Time for a cellphone comparo since I just switched from a v265 (basic workhorse) to a RAZR (the cool one).
- Battery life. Nod goes to the old v265. I only charged it at work as it would easily survive a full weekend with 2 bars left. Long weekends were doable, but might result in only 1 bar left. The RAZR is down to 1 bar by the middle of the second day of the weekend (I have it set to use as little power as possible).
- Buttons. v265 wins again. The RAZR buttons are larger, but it's real easy to accidently press the wrong ones. Requires looking at the phone, dialing by touch is MUCH harder than with the v265. Surprise here, since the RAZR looks like it would be easier to use!
- Outside display. Yet another v265 win. The v265 outside display was always on (minus backlight), providing useful info without having to push any buttons, and still managed to win the battery life contest. On the RAZR, not only have I not been able to get the outside display to stay on (minus backlight), but the power saving settings make it practically useless. I end up flipping the phone open to check status rather than the quick glance that was sufficient for the v265. Also, the RAZR has a quirk of sometimes (most of the time) displaying the day, followed by 2 copies of the date on that outside display. 1 copy of the date would be more than sufficient...
- Belt clip. They both lose. RAZR didn't come with one, and the v265 clip was useless. It would launch itself out of the belt clip on a regular basis. Surprising how well the phone still worked for bouncing off of the floor at least once a day...
- Inside display. v265 more functional, but the RAZR's is so very beautiful.
- Overall winner. The RAZR. Just because it looks so much cooler. As far as basic phone functionality goes, the v265 actually does a much better job. Since I'm typically very much a functionality over form type person, this really says something about how cool the RAZR looks!
