After the last episode, I'd figured that I was good to go.  Haven't even driven the car since then, but being the paranoid person that I am, I decided to inspect the car before heading off to the LCARES (Lucas County Amateur Radio Emergency Service) meeting this morning.  Oil level, pretty high (last oil change, my mechanic put 5 qts in, instead of the usual 4 that I put in (and 4 qts takes it exactly to the full line)).  Coolant level in the overflow, perfect, and no puddles under the car.  Let's inspect that bottom hose anyway though, JUST to make sure.  Imagine my surprise when I look...  The hose clamp is not loose, it's not even attached to the hose!  In the space of the 40 mile (1 hour) test drive last weekend, the hose clamp CAME OFF THE HOSE!  It's now over, dangling off the metal line up to the oil cooler!

Aborted my plans to attend the meeting and decided to go show this new development to my mechanic.  Threw an extra gallon of coolant and a funnel in the back of the car, just to make sure I could survive the 2.5 mile drive.  When I got there, I found out that the shop opens an hour later on Saturday , so I just dropped the car off in the parking lot.  Came back an hour later right as the shop was opening up.  Noted that the car didn't appear to be leaking, despite driving there with no hose clamp and cooling off for an hour.  Told my rather astonished mechanic what happened.  He said he could get it on the lift later on today.  I didn't want to wait around, so I just asked him about the setup to make sure that I got the clamp on in the appropriate location (not too far forward or back) since I can't see the tube under the hose.  I then was able to reach under the car, reposition the hoseclamp, and tighten it back down right there.  Noted some liquid on the ground, but further back (back side of the engine).  Looked like coolant, so maybe I did lose some on the drive and it sprayed back there.  Have never had anything else leak back there before, but I'll keep my eye on it to make sure it's not another transfer case leak (just rebuilt last summer, so pretty unlikely).  Drove the car around a bit, checked the coolant when hot, and it was definitely lower than it normally is.  Will check it again and top it off when the car cools off.

Hoping that hoseclamp decides to stay on from this point forward.  However, even if it doesn't, I guess the connection itself doesn't leak much without it...
